The log

The fundamentals of selling have not moved in forty years. The tooling moves every week, and most of what gets written about it is out of date by the time it ranks. So we keep a dated record instead: what we tested, what changed underneath us, and what we stopped recommending.

The rule for what goes in here. Every entry names the test that produced it or the source we checked. If we cannot say how we know, it does not get an entry. That includes the entries that make our own advice look wrong, which are usually the useful ones.

The connector is on in settings and off in the chat

Setup

Adding a connector does not switch it on. Tools are enabled per conversation through the plus button, then Connectors. This is the cause of most first-week reports that it is not working: the connector is authorised, the toggle is off in that particular chat, and Claude answers from general knowledge without flagging that it had no access.

How we know: Ask a question only the tool could answer. If the answer arrives with no visible tool call, the toggle is off.

Custom connectors are on every plan, including Free

Plans

Free is capped at one custom connector. Pro and Max add them directly from Customize, then Connectors. Team and Enterprise cannot: an organization owner adds the connector once for the whole org, then each member connects their own account to it.

Two to four servers is the ceiling before quality drops

Practice

Past roughly four attached servers, tool selection degrades. More tool descriptions compete for the same request and the model starts calling the wrong one. Separate projects or sessions beat one session with everything attached.

How we know: Consistent across our own setups. Symptom is the right answer from the wrong source.

Why a log rather than a blog

A blog rewards publishing. A log rewards being right, and being willing to say when you were not. The entries here are short because the useful part is usually one sentence: this changed, here is how we found out, here is what to do differently on Monday.

Everything that proves durable gets folded into the main pages, so the setup walkthrough and the workflows stay current rather than becoming an archive with a fresh date on top. The log is the working notes. The pages are the conclusions.
